Overview

Assignment

To create an e-commerce experience for a menswear start-up fashion brand.

SOLUTION

Create a shopping experience that wasn't just a store but a place to educate and delve deep into the design and manufacturing process, creating a compelling narrative around each garment. My focus was to remove obstacles to purchasing, convert to sales, and to reflect those ideas through UX and design.

eliminating Clicking

One of the nuisances of more conventional image galleries is having to click-through individual photos for a larger view. To combat this, I conceptualized an image gallery that was inherently full resolution and full-bleed within the browser. To view the images, a user would simply have to scroll, which was much more convenient on all devices. Eliminating clicking also significantly reduced perceived load times.

Highlighting photography

The “full-bleed” image gallery required a redesign of the original wireframes. To make the full-bleed gallery work, the photography would have to shot a specific way and edited so that there was ample negative space to accommodate the floating, sticky shopping module.

increasing conversion

This “full-bleed,” scroll-activated image gallery also worked to allow the sticky shopping module to be ever-present within the browser, encouraging the user to add the product to their cart.
